Thanksgiving Spa Retreat in Westlake Village

My husband and I spent the long Thanksgiving weekend at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, a luxury resort with 230 rooms and 39 suites less than an hour’s drive from Los Angeles. Instead of toiling in the kitchen, we spent our precious hours relaxing together with our black Labrador.

The Room

Our room, which faced the waterfall, was in a palette of turquoise hues, sandy neutrals, and glamorous brass accents. In the marble bathroom were a pair of plush robes, a deep soaking tub, a separate shower with bench, a separate toilet room, and double vanities. My husband was charmed by the temperature controlled mugs by Ember.

The Restaurants at Four Seasons Westlake Village

For Thanksgiving Dinner, we had reservations at Coin & Candor, the California brasserie that overlooks the waterfalls near the entrance of the hotel. Chef Jesus Medina’s three-course Thanksgiving menu began with an amuse-bouche consisting of savory corn fritters adorned with Osetra caviar. For our main course, my husband ordered the organic roasted turkey breast and chicken apple sausage stuffing roulade with mashed potato, green beans, cranberry chutney, and gravy, while I enjoyed a seasonal sea bass. There were also vegan and children’s options.

The day after Thanksgiving, the hotel lobby glistened with faux snow and a large flocked, decorated Christmas tree.

We strolled along the walking pathways that meander through the hotel, reaching a relaxing sculpture garden at the end of the property. We discovered the Cove Pool, Kitchen & Bar, a family-friendly poolside restaurant and bar with three whirlpool spas, a swimming pool, private daybeds, swaying hammocks flanked by towering date palm trees, a raised bocce ball court, and a working greenhouse for private wellness experiences that opened in November 2023. We ordered Baja Style Tacos with avocado cabbage, cilantro, matcha aioli, homemade corn tortillas with frozen cocktails.

For dinner, we went to Onyx for Japanese sushi and sashimi, followed by drinks at the speakeasy-inspired Prosperous Penny. I woke up early the following morning, and purchased a delicious corn blueberry muffin from Stir.

Spa & Fitness Center at Four Seasons Westlake Village

The Center for Health & Wellbeing was the most impressive part of the hotel, and I didn’t discover it until my final day. As a hotel guest, I had access to the incredible spa facilities with a plunge pool, day beds, private changing areas, a steam room, and whirlpool tubs. The large, professionally-equipped gym included a yoga/Pilates studio, as well as a program of instructor-led fitness classes. Private entrances led to another adults-only pool behind the spa. There was also a hair salon and Coordinators to develop wellness experiences, such as a Posture and Movement Assessment or Sound Bath Healing. I could spend an entire weekend at the health facility, and recommend the experience for a restful holiday.
